I've created this package that installs Macromedia Flash Player 7.0.61 on Debian Sarge, without ruby :

It asks to accept the Macromedia license, uses wget to download the .tar.gz from Macromedia, uses md5sum to detect changes at Macromedia, unpacks the .tar.gz and installs the two plugin files.
