As far as I can see there's several duplicate files
(/usr/bin/mutt_dotlock, /usr/bin/smime_keys, /usr/lib/mutt/*, ...)

If they are the same as in the original mutt package, I guess the
solution is to do what the mutt-patched package does: ship only the
main executable, register it using the alternatives method and make
the package depend on mutt:

https://packages.debian.org/sid/amd64/mutt-patched/filelist
