In MATE 1.10 (which we will start uploading sometime over the summer),
the gstreamer dependency has become obsolete completely.

What is it using instead now?

Once MATE 1.10 packages hit unstable, all theses issues (#785850,
#785861, #785880) will be solved.

Great, that's good to hear.

mate-settings-daemon has been uploaded to experimental which fixes this issue in experimental.

We will close this bug with the first upload of msd 1.10 to unstable.
