Yeah, this was pretty much the problem.  Originally (like, a year ago),
the writertests were completely independent of any device.  I slowly
started adding some tests that actually talked to the device.  In
retrospect, these tests are kind of bogus, for a couple of reasons.

One reason is that just because I have a cd writer at a particular SCSI
address doesn't mean that a device on someone else's system with that
address is a writer.  Another reason is that I no longer even have a
writer device with the indicated SCSI address (0,0,0), so I wasn't even
running the tests in the first place.  Aaargh!

Anyway, I've just removed the offending tests, and I'll do a new
upstream release and push the changes through to Debian.
