OK, maybe I wasn't clear enough:

I had no idea what eth1394 is or why it is there. I did not ask for it to be there. I only knew:

1. When I removed eth1394 module and reloaded my 8139 module it was OK
2. I suspect udev chose to load it, and I cannot figure out why
3. With the previous version of kernel it works fine.

So I had to do some reading, and I've found that ieee1394 is firewire interface. eth1394 is ip-over-firewire. So my problem translates into: I have a _sound_ card that all of a sudden seeks more attention and wants to be treated as a _network_ card as well. As a result, my legitimate network card is lost. I mean it cannot be only me, this must be an issue for many people. Can you please give some guidance for such a situation.

Thanks,
Srdjan
