You can search/replace s/http/https certainly. I'd recommend to do
this first on PO files, then on the templates files. The most
important thing is that you should NOT make the change to templates
files and run debconf-updatepo as all translations would have strings
marked as "fuzzy".

Another recommendation is to open the PO files with a tool that is
UTF8-clean. Nowadayd, this is nearly never a problem, but who knows?
Of course, you may also want to use "sed" on these files.
