tags 226139 +pending thanks It appears that if you don't explicitly tell it to do otherwise, Amanda will use the value of AMANDA_TMPDIR as the place to write debugging logs. There is a configure option to redirect these elsewhere, and I'll use it to push them to /var/log/amanda which is clearly a better place.
In the process of researching this, I found and fixed a couple of typos in the latest source with respect to the handling of the AMANDA_DBGDIR constant, which suggests to me that this option to redirect the debugging logs is rarely used...
