Yes, it may make sense to split the image.  I'll look into this later.
The current 2.6 kernel doesn't boot on Netwinder and I'm being told
that it's due to a bug in the Netwinder firmware.  So there *might* be
a new version of the firmware, and maybe that'll be able to load
bigger images.  I wouldn't count on it yet, though.

In any case, I'm filing a bug report now to keep track of this and
will look into this later when it's clear whether there'll be a new
version of Netrom (the netwinder firmware).

If the size restriction won't be fixed, debian-installer should check
the size during initrd generation.
