Then I'm still clearly failing to see why to produce an alternate tool for 
something that already works and brings no extra work except that of adding a 
build dependency (which does not pulls in any Qt/KDE stuff ecept for some 
helpers).

Just for the record: remember you are not forced to use pkg-kde-tools in any 
way, it's just a helper. It turned out to be quite an interesting helper in 
the case of handling qreal, and a very convenient one at the moment of using 
subst.

And again, sorry if I don't fully understand your motivation :-/
