They can check if you have the generic link too, and even better: They
could understand it better if the page is translated to their language.
It's a win-win situation. :)

It shouldn't be up to the user. But ideally, the page in different
languages shouldn't say different things. Like said, this is would be a
bug and should get fixed and not even appear in the first place. Using
potential bugs as argument for anything is an extremely weak argument,
if any.

Doesn't change what I wrote, or I still don't get you.

There are browser plugins for at least firefox and chrome which allow
you quickly change the Accept-Language header for such use cases, if you
have them more regularly.

Thanks! Only with notifying the translators such things can get
improved. :D

It can only get fixed with enough people translating and keeping
translations current. Are you willing to join the (French) team for
that? That would be awesome!

External links should always point to the generic URL, and thus we
encourage and use the generic URLs only, for the benefit of the users so
that they in the end see their preferred language, not the language the
person linking the page speaks.

The translation system isn't perfect, but it's the best approach we've
found and settled on.

 Enjoy,
