Master is a Gentoo cyrus imap 2.4.17, Debian is the replica aka slave system. syncserver in Debian 8 is configured in /etc/cyrus.conf as syncserver cmd="/usr/lib/cyrus/bin/sync_server" listen="2005" and listens. However, connecting via netcat shows the follwing answer root@debian:~# netcat localhost 2005 * OK [CAPABILITY IMAP4rev1 LITERAL+ ID ENABLE AUTH=DIGEST-MD5 AUTH=NTLM AUTH=CRAM-MD5 AUTH=PLAIN AUTH=LOGIN SASL-IR] debian Cyrus IMAP v2.4.17-caldav-beta10-Debian-2.4.17+caldav~beta10-18 server ready This is wrong ! This is the answer of the standard IMAP-Service. In Debian 7 and on Gentoo the answer is root@debian:~# netcat localhost 2005 * SASL DIGEST-MD5 CRAM-MD5 NTLM LOGIN * COMPRESS DELETE * OK debian Cyrus sync server v2.4.16-Debian-2.4.16-4+deb7u2 wich is expected. I am running the config beetween Debian 7 and Gentoo for a long time now, and it ever worked.
