the right way to do this is for the packages to do it for you. the gnupg2 package will at some point (hopefully soon) provide /usr/bin/gpg, and the 1.4 branch will become /usr/bin/gpg1. This was discussed at Debconf this summer, but hasn't been completed yet. Expect to see it in experimental before it hits unstable, though ;) I'm reluctant to officially document "how to switch to gpg2" before that because i don't want to have lots of people doing it in ways that will cause breakage once the packages transition directly. --dkg
