Package: libpoppler57
Version: 0.38.0-2
Severity: normal

with files generated from latex / lyx that contain soft hyphens, those
are neither printed, nor show up in the output of `pdftocairo -pdf`.

in applications (both evince and zathura), the characters are shown
correctly on screen, but are already gone when showing a print preview.

so far, i've only observed this with files generated in latex with T1
font encoding both on jessie and sid (i could produce such files only on
debian jessie, but not easily on sid). files generated without
`\usepackage[T1]{fontenc}` display and print properly on both systems.

attached, you'll find an example tex and pdf file. i'm filing this
against poppler and not latex because it affects users that not
necessarily created those files, and unless it turns out that the pdf is
actually erroneous (which so far i have no indication to assume), it's
up to the pdf renderer to display and print it as faithfully as
possible.

this has already been observed at

 .
