Package: virtinst Version: 1:1.2.1-4 Severity: important Dear Maintainer,
When following the normal process for creating a ppc64 VM (e.g., https://rwmj.wordpress.com/2015/04/15/virt-builder-fedora-21-ppc64-and-ppc64le-images/ ), it will fail complaining about vmport. I believe this is this bug: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1259998 Assuming one can get beyond that (e.g., with VNC set), the resulting machine will fail with no output. Logs reveal that 2016-01-13 18:49:40.822+0000: starting up libvirt version: 1.3.0, package: 2 (Guido Günther <a...@sigxcpu.org> Wed, 06 Jan 2016 00:04:12 +0100), qemu version: 2.5.0 (Debian 1:2.5+dfsg-3), hostname: thriss LC_ALL=C PATH=/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin HOME=/root USER=root LOGNAME=root QEMU_AUDIO_DRV=none /usr/bin/qemu-system-ppc64 -name rhel6-ppc64 -S -machine pseries-2.5,accel=tcg,usb=off -cpu POWER8 -m 2048 -realtime mlock=off -smp 1,sockets=1,cores=1,threads=1 -uuid 98d818e6-b5c5-43b1-8381-da6ca420aec8 -no-user-config -nodefaults -chardev socket,id=charmonitor,path=/var/lib/libvirt/qemu/domain-rhel6-ppc64/monitor.sock,server,nowait -mon chardev=charmonitor,id=monitor,mode=control -rtc base=utc,driftfix=slew -no-shutdown -boot strict=on -device ich9-usb-ehci1,id=usb,bus=pci.0,addr=0x4.0x7 -device ich9-usb-uhci1,masterbus=usb.0,firstport=0,bus=pci.0,multifunction=on,addr=0x4 -device ich9-usb-uhci2,masterbus=usb.0,firstport=2,bus=pci.0,addr=0x4.0x1 -device ich9-usb-uhci3,masterbus=usb.0,firstport=4,bus=pci.0,addr=0x4.0x2 -device spapr-vscsi,id=scsi0,reg=0x2000 -device virtio-serial-pci,id=virtio-serial0,bus=pci.0,addr=0x5 -drive file=/var/lib/libvirt/images /rhel6-ppc64.img,if=none,id=drive-scsi0-0-0-0,format=raw -device scsi-hd,bus=scsi0.0,channel=0,scsi-id=0,lun=0,drive=drive-scsi0-0-0-0,id=scsi0-0-0-0,bootindex=2 -drive file=/home/bos/rharwood/iso/RHEL-6.7-20150702.0-Server-ppc64-dvd1.iso,if=none,id=drive-scsi0-0-0-1,readonly=on,format=raw -device scsi-cd,bus=scsi0.0,channel=0,scsi-id=0,lun=1,drive=drive-scsi0-0-0-1,id=scsi0-0-0-1,bootindex=1 -netdev tap,fd=29,id=hostnet0 -device virtio-net-pci,netdev=hostnet0,id=net0,mac=52:54:00:3a:c7:37,bus=pci.0,addr=0x3 -chardev pty,id=charserial0 -device spapr-vty,chardev=charserial0,reg=0x30000000 -device usb-tablet,id=input0 -device usb-kbd,id=input1 -device usb-mouse,id=input2 -vnc 127.0.0.1:0 -device VGA,id=video0,vgamem_mb=16,bus=pci.0,addr=0x1 -chardev spicevmc,id=charredir0,name=usbredir -device usb-redir,chardev=charredir0,id=redir0 -chardev spicevmc,id=charredir1,name=usbredir -device usb-redir,chardev=charredir1,id=redir1 -device virtio-balloon-pci,id=balloon0,bus=pci.0,addr=0x7 -obj ect rng-random,id=objrng0,filename=/dev/random -device virtio-rng-pci,rng=objrng0,id=rng0,bus=pci.0,addr=0x8 -msg timestamp=on char device redirected to /dev/pts/3 (label charserial0) qemu: fatal: Trying to execute code outside RAM or ROM at 0xfffffffff92169f8 NIP fffffffff92169f8 LR 000000000000631c CTR fffffffff92169f8 XER 0000000000000000 CPU#0 MSR 8000000000000000 HID0 0000000000000000 HF 8000000000000000 idx 1 TB 00000000 07931969 DECR 4287035593 GPR00 000000000000631c 000000000000bba0 0000000000014398 000000000000bd60 GPR04 0000000000000140 0000000000007268 000000000000bc10 000000000000bd61 GPR08 000000000000006c fffffffff9210180 fffffffff92169f8 000000007fbbd590 GPR12 0000000000000001 0000000000000000 000000000000726b 000000000000002d GPR16 0000000000000000 0000000000000001 0000000000000030 0000000000000078 GPR20 00000000000073b8 000000000000bf58 0000000000000020 0000000000000020 GPR24 0000000000000004 0000000000000140 0000000000000000 000000000000bd60 GPR28 000000000000bd20 000000000000bc31 0000000000007260 0000000000000000 CR 40000208 [ G - - - - E - L ] RES ffffffffffffffff FPR00 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 FPR04 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 FPR08 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 FPR12 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 FPR16 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 FPR20 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 FPR24 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 FPR28 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 FPSCR 0000000000000000 SRR0 0000000000000000 SRR1 0000000000000000 PVR 00000000004d0100 VRSAVE 0000000000000000 SPRG0 0000000000000000 SPRG1 0000000000000000 SPRG2 0000000000000000 SPRG3 0000000000000000 SPRG4 0000000000000000 SPRG5 0000000000000000 SPRG6 0000000000000000 SPRG7 0000000000000000 CFAR 00000000000067e0 SDR1 00007fbd3f000006 DAR 0000000000000000 DSISR 0000000000000000 2016-01-13 18:49:41.358+0000: shutting down These happen to be the RHEL logs, but the failure mode is the same for Fedora as well.
