Package: openjdk-7-jre-headless
Version: 7u91-2.6.3-0ubuntu0.14.04.1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Dear Maintainer,

GNOME ATK bridge has been enabled in default configuration of openjdk-7 and
openjdk-8 packages.

This change caused a tremendous amount of bug reports since October 2015 from
many users running Debian, Ubuntu and Mint distributions, here is the
exhaustive list as of today:

Basically the UI breaks at many places, EDT violations occur often, nasty
display bugs are encountered.

These problems have been reported upstream by several users, but GNOME ATK
bridge seems unmaintained (no commit in the past 6 months).

Please reconsider this change and disable the bridge until someone fixes
these grave issues. Swing applications are unusable if ATK bridge is
enabled.

   * What led up to the situation?

#797595 re-enabled GNOME ATK bridge in default configuration of openjdk-7
#and openjdk-8 packages.

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
     ineffective)?

Commenting out assistive_technologies=org.GNOME.Accessibility.AtkWrapper
line in /etc/java-[7/8]-openjdk/accessibility.properties resolves the issue.
