Package: gemrb
Version: 0.8.3-1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

While playing around with gemrb, I found that I could not get the TTF font
rendering plugin to work without
encountering an immediate Segmentation fault during the font loading process.
When attempting to report this
bug upstream, I was told that this bug is likely due to the fact that Debian is
packaging in the SDL2-GL video
plugin for GemRB, which is considered a WIP and not ready for primetime,
instead of packaging in the mature
and stable SDL1.2 video plugin. I could not find the SDL1.2 plugin or a way to
load it instead in the debian
gemrb package. It's my belief that as of 0.8.3 the SDL2 code is not stable
enough to be built in by default
in the debian package, and that we should hold off on building it with SDL2
support, or at least restrict
this to unstable/experimental.

The thread where I talked to the upstream developers about this is linked below:

Thanks for your attenion to this issue,
        Dylan J Morrison
