I can't reproduce your issue. For me all works as expected netherless I use my various clients or I create new profiles. Did you check the behaviour with disabled plugins and/or a new profile? Is there something visible in the JS console (Ctrl+Shif+J) related to that issue? Have you tried to start icedove from a terminal and look there for some output?
