I have this running live in a log aggregation center, but unfortunately reproducing this is somehow non-deterministic (it randomly happens from time to time, after several weeks that it is running under moderate load, without simple triggers). I have now applied this patch on top of 8.4.2-1+deb8u2, and I'll let it run for some time in the environment above to check if it still deadlocks (however I can't exclude false negatives if the bug doesn't trigger).
