You seem not aware that Debian _tracks_ security updates in stable.
Just not features. We backport security fixes to the current version
in stable.

for the last security update in Jessie (i.e. the aforementioned
version) and see https://packages.qa.debian.org/x/xscreensaver.html
for the remaining security updates in oldstable and oldoldstable (no
more supported now).

And once again: GNOME Screensaver is not alternative to xscreensaver
as it lacks features and pulls in a lot of GNOME stuff which is
unwanted for other desktop environments.
