Autoconf and Automake would also have to be changed for this, and I see
it as pretty unlikely that they will implement this; it really makes no
sense to adjust Libtool without them having changed this.  In any case,
IMVHO there is little point in having it as wishlist bug in the Debian
libtool package and not rather as a TODO item in all three upstream
autotools -- there's enough clutter in the Debian BTS already (and I'm
not even a Debian developer, so I don't have to care ;-)

FWIW, I personally don't see a justification of the work necessary to
make it happen, just to have _one_ less file in the toplevel directory:
there are still several others left.  (Regard this as upstream wontfix
due to insufficient work:gain ratio if you like.)
