Package: network-manager-openvpn Version: 1.2.0-1 Followup-For: Bug #667611
I think the root cause of this issue may have changed over time, given the activity on the upstream openvpn bug report, but the fact that it still fails. I see this locally with this error in the logs: May 9 09:18:49 bengal nm-openvpn[20895]: Preserving previous TUN/TAP instance: tap0 May 9 09:18:49 bengal nm-openvpn[20895]: /usr/lib/NetworkManager/nm-openvpn-service-openvpn-helper --bus-name org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.openvpn.Connection_53 --tap -- tap0 1500 1574 10.0.0.175 255.255.255.0 restart May 9 09:18:49 bengal nm-openvpn[20895]: WARNING: Failed running command (--up/--down): could not execute external program May 9 09:18:49 bengal nm-openvpn[20895]: Exiting due to fatal error I think the problem now is that you can't use --up-restart with --chroot, unless the --up script is also present at the same path in the chroot. PS: #567153 is probably a duplicate of this issue. -- System Information: Debian Release: stretch/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing'), (500, 'buildd-unstable'), (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 4.5.0-1-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) Versions of packages network-manager-openvpn depends on: ii adduser 3.114 ii libc6 2.22-7 ii libglib2.0-0 2.48.0-1 ii libnm0 1.2.0-1 ii openvpn 2.3.10-1 network-manager-openvpn recommends no packages. network-manager-openvpn suggests no packages. -- no debconf information
