Package: lightdm Version: 1.18.1-1 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer,
* What led up to the situation? I upgraded from Jessie to Testing after reboot instead of the login the screen went blank. * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)? I was able to the login by dropping to the console ctl-alt-f1 then hitting ctl- alt-f7 * What was the outcome of this action? I got to the login * What outcome did you expect instead? It should load the login screen without doing this. If I do not drop to the console right away the screen freezes then I need to do a reboot of the laptop. I so see the following errors in lightdm.log root@debian-ppc:/home/rican-linux# cat /var/log/lightdm/lightdm.log |grep -i warn [+6.63s] WARNING: Error using VT_WAITACTIVE 7 on /dev/tty0: No such device or address [+35.50s] WARNING: Error using VT_WAITACTIVE 7 on /dev/tty0: No such device or address [+180.21s] WARNING: Error using VT_WAITACTIVE 7 on /dev/tty0: No such device or address [+198.96s] WARNING: Error using VT_WAITACTIVE 7 on /dev/tty0: No such device or address -- System Information: Debian Release: stretch/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: powerpc (ppc) Kernel: Linux 4.6.0-1-powerpc Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) Versions of packages lightdm depends on: ii adduser 3.114 ii dbus 1.10.8-1 ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.59 ii libaudit1 1:2.5.2-1 ii libc6 2.22-11 ii libgcrypt20 1.7.0-2 ii libglib2.0-0 2.48.1-1 ii libpam-systemd 230-2 ii libpam0g 1.1.8-3.3 ii libxcb1 1.11.1-1 ii libxdmcp6 1:1.1.2-1.1 ii lightdm-gtk-greeter [lightdm-greeter] 2.0.1-2 Versions of packages lightdm recommends: ii xserver-xorg 1:7.7+15 Versions of packages lightdm suggests: ii accountsservice 0.6.40-3 ii upower 0.99.4-2 -- debconf information: * shared/default-x-display-manager: lightdm lightdm/daemon_name: /usr/sbin/lightdm
