Steam is failing to start up on my system, with: SteamUpdateUI: An X Error occurred X Error of failed request: BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation) As suggested on https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steam-for-linux/issues/3820 I removed the private copy of libgpg-error from the Steam Runtime, and that appears to address this. It might be useful to extend the libstdc++ workaround to do that too. I upgraded Mesa to version 12 (from experimental) since last time Steam worked, although I can't see how that could be relevant, given the workaround. Alternatively, perhaps the Steam binaries have recently started using something libgcrypt-related? -- System Information: Debian Release: stretch/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (500, 'stable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 4.6.0-1-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_GB.utf8, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) Versions of packages steam:i386 depends on: ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.59 ii libc6 2.23-1 ii libgl1-mesa-dri 12.0.1-1 ii libgl1-mesa-glx 12.0.1-1 ii libstdc++6 6.1.1-9 ii libtxc-dxtn-s2tc0 [libtxc-dxtn0] 0~git20131104-1.1 ii libudev1 230-7 ii libx11-6 2:1.6.3-1 ii libxinerama1 2:1.1.3-1+b1 ii xz-utils 5.1.1alpha+20120614-2.1 Versions of packages steam:i386 recommends: ii fonts-liberation 1.07.4-1 ii gnome-terminal [x-terminal-emulator] 3.20.2-1 ii xterm [x-terminal-emulator] 325-1 ii xvt [x-terminal-emulator] 2.1-20.2 ii zenity 3.20.0-1 Versions of packages steam:i386 suggests: pn steam-devices <none> -- no debconf information
