Package: firefox-esr Version: 45.2.0esr-1 Debian's evince package in "testing" now ships evince-browser-plugin. epiphany-browser recommends it. However, if the plugin is used in Firefox, it will hang the browser. I can duplicate this in Ubuntu's Firefox which is GTK3 enabled so it's not just a GTK3 issue as was implied in https://bugzilla.gnome.org/738270
Firefox has a way to block bad plugins, right? Could you block the evince plugin then so that epiphany can still recommend it for PDF support? Of course, Firefox uses pdf.js by default for PDFs so to experience the browser hang, you'll need to try to open another file type that Evince supports like .cbz or .djvu such as http://djvu.org/docs/2001_compression_overview.djvu Or you can trigger it with pdfs if you… 1. Open Firefox's Preferences 2. Click Applications in the left sidebar 3. Type pdf in the search field and set the Action to open with Evince Browser Plugin. Thanks, Jeremy Bicha
