No, it's common to track several distributions, in particular for security reasons: for Debian/unstable users, security.debian.org stable/updates is important because some security fixes are only available there (in particular shortly after a new release: for packages whose versions are such that unstable == stable, unstable doesn't always get security fixes, mainly for not actively developed software).
