Hi Sam, From the description, this sounds like a duplicate of 831439 vmdebootstrap: stretch image has no DNS setup. The fix for 831439 enables systemd-resolved and creates the symlink to /etc/resolv.conf for images based on stretch and later. The fix is currently pending in the master branch whilst I investigate some other problems related to kpartx.
