dpkg will tell you that. You have to install the files in the right order (normaly apt or apt-get is figuring that out for you). Currently there are no extra dependencies than icedove packages itself.
Ok, I installed the package from sid without problems and I can now open the config editor even in normal mode. I'll tell if I'll experience other crashes.
