This already is strange because qt4-designer has nothing to do with qt4.

Except for the NFS part I tried this out without any problems, so I'm
downgrading the severity of the bug to important.

KFileDialog has nothing to do with qt4-designer, and:

...after sawing this backtrace there is something very weird going on there,
and it's definitely not qt-related (or at least not pure Qt).
I'm thus reasigning this to libkio5, but I suspect the problem might be
somewhere else.
¿Have you tried the bug by creating another user with and without NFS home?
By the way if you are really still developing with Qt4 let me suggest you to
switch to Qt5 as soon as posible.
