The error message is access denied for 'root'@'localhost', but the test itself tries to log in as the current system user (it's supposed to be blank, but that's not working right), so it does seem to be running as root. However, if I try a full sbuild as root, there are some other tests that will fail too, so it doesn't seem like the test suite in general is running as root. I've made a patch that should fix the test to actually specify a blank user. Are you able to test your build with the head of https://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/pkg-mysql/mysql.git/log/?h=mysql-5.7/ltangvald ? It's the same as the 5.7.16 uploaded to unstable, just with that one extra commit. -- Lars
