Hi Christian;

I have very few indications about the DHCP problems. The installation
procedure identified (correctly) eth0 as an intel nic and eth1 as a
firewire-bridged nic (Sony i-link'd docking station). The procedure
only allowed for automatic DHCP discovery. When that failed, it
insisted that I give the whichever nic a fixed ip, netmask, name server,
gateway (fwiw, I'm familiar with setting up lans, wlans). I followed
this procedure once for each of the nics. Each time, it reported
failure when trying to establish mirror sites.

I'm happy to help investigate! But, since the lappy is in standalone
status, I can't exactly do a dump. The only option for file-transfer is
using a usb flash drive. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find or see
where the key is mounted. If you can point me to a debian primer on usb
flash drives, I'd continue giving you feedback.

thanks!

Craig Olofson
