Hi, thanks for the report. I can confirm even on Jessie the sounds don't work. Looking at the source package in src/sound.cpp and [1] because of the error message, this is related somehow to Gnome's gnome_sound_sample_load function which should probably be replaced with gnome_sound_play(). But it might also be related to the use of the Enlightened Sound Daemon (ESD) which is rather old. Unfortunately I don't have an immediate solution for the problem but I'm quite sure this is the place to get started.
