Package: coreutils
Version: 8.23-4
Severity: wishlist

Probably a request for upstream.

>From the manpage for uniq (reordered to highlight the missing symmetry):
       -s, --skip-chars=N
avoid comparing the first N characters
       -w, --check-chars=N
compare no more than N characters in lines

       -f, --skip-fields=N
avoid comparing the first N fields

but no option to only compare the first N fields. Please add that feaure.

The system information below shows that I'm running stable, but it's the same
on unstable, but no matter what I do reportbug crashes (with an error similar
to what's in https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=849358) when I
run it in the docker container with unstable I used for checking it.
