Thank you for caring! So, Tails 2.x (Jessie) is using Classic mode, but Tails 3.x (Stretch) switches to regular GNOME Shell + the places-menu extension. We enable show-desktop-icons with a snippet in /etc/dconf/db/local.d/. It works fine for us (desktop icons are displayed) with the snapshot of testing from December 20, that we're currently using as our development basis (it has gnome-shell-extensions 3.22.2-1). > Without this patch, nautilus-desktop is started by default for the GNOME > Classic session and draws the icons on the desktop. The downside is, > that the user can no longer override this setting via > gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.background show-desktop-icons false. If this patch was dropped, would it still work to set show-desktop-icons via dconf system-wide? Cheers, -- intrigeri
