Package: git-buildpackage
Version: 0.8.8
Severity: wishlist

Hello,

If my repository shows origin/pristine-tar remote branch and I use
--git-pristine-tar, gbp says, "gbp:warning: Pristine-tar branch
"pristine-tar" not found".

I need to actually do a 'git checkout -b pristine-tar
origin/pristine-tar' before it recognizes it.

Can't gbp just use the git ref that is available at
origin/pristine-tar, without an actual branch checkout being made
manually beforehand? If not, couldn't it just automate making that
local branch for you?

thanks!
micah
