Yeah, I'm not accusing you of breaking it; the problem here is that a bug
unrelated to what you did makes the package unupgradeable (without jumping
through hoops) on multiarch setups.

I guess the core problem here is that we have a non-trivial essential
package that's not seeing enough tuits: five NMUs in a row in unstable,
yours in stable (plus a DSA).  In a random shit package I wouldn't hesitate,
but here it needs some thinking+communicating first.

Steve: are you alive?

Another issue is, a stable update (which would happen only in the next point
release) can fix only upgrades to _subsequent_ stable uploads, thus hardly
doing anything good.
