Package: libfreetype6 Version: 2.1.7-2.4 Severity: normal
I've noticed that both OpenOffice and Scribus in Sid no longer kern TrueType fonts. Type 1 fonts are fine. I originally posted this as an OpenOffice bug, but I saw a comment that kerning in other programs like Scribus is also not working. This is not a problem in Ubuntu Breezy, which is almost as new as Sid, but which hasn't changed to Freetype 2.1.10. I've also noticed that neither OpenOffice or Scribus will kern TrueType fonts in Suse 10.0, which also uses Freetype 2.1.10. I notice in the recent changelog that there are some lines related to kerning, specifically for what appears to be TrueType: * src/sfnt/ttkern.c (tt_face_get_kerning): Don't shadow variables. Maybe related? I'm really beyond my depth in knowing exactly where to report this, but I hope this report proves helpful. Thanks for your time!
