Hi Adrian! The testsuite in gegl fails at the same point on sparc64 as well, but with a bus error. When investigating the issue with gdb, I could track down this issue as a bug in babl. I therefore reassigned my bug report accordingly [1].
A simple fix is described in the upstream bug tracker [2]. The fix replaces the rather crude pointer arithmetics and casting with clean but potentially slower C code.
