the version from approx 2-4 months ago was absolutely fine (other than the keyboard focus issue - again). i just upgraded to dfsg-4 and it's still there. even with mozilla-browser i still _sometimes_ encounter situations where text is white-on-white, but the situations are much fewer and far between. absolutely absolutely everything (that's a fixed-width font) in firefox is white-on-white. view source. pre < pre > < / pre >. tt < tt >< / tt >. everything. i moved ~/.firefox out the way. same thing. this is very frustrating because i have had to use mozilla-browser, where my bookmarks and password history are well over two years old.
