Version: AMD Firepro W4100 videocard does not work well in 4K resolution
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

The AMD Firepro W4100 works well in 4K with Linux with kernel 3.16, and I have
also heard it works fine with kernel 4.3. But with the actual 4.9 kernel it
does not work fine in 4K. Lower resolutions work fine, but in 4K you will see
sometimes flickering when you do something (e.g. move your mouse). Everything
is nice if you don't do anything. The problem is not 100% reproduceable, but if
you work a bit you will see it. It is not useable in 4K.

First I've installed Stretch and I saw the problem. I have tried another W4100
with the same problem, and I have also tried it in another workstation with the
same problem (completely different system).

Then I've installed Jessie with kernel 3.16 and everything works fine. I have
installed firmware-amd-graphics from jessie-backports, everything still works
OK. When I install the 4.9 kernel from jessie-backports I see the problem. If I
use then grub and choose the 3.16 kernel there is no problem.

Maybe this link is interesting, the author says everything works fine with
Linux 4.3: http://blog.mycre.ws/articles/works-with-debian-intel-ssd-750-amd-
