It appears that the AbiWord upstream autotooled link-grammar without regard for whether the commandline parser works, and I fixed it without any to test whether AbiWord works.
The problem is that the commandline parser loads the dictionaries as 4.0.dict, 4.0.affix, 4.0.knowledge, and 4.0.constituent-knowledge, whereas AbiWord loads the dictionaries as en/4.0.dict, en/4.0.affix, en/4.0.knowledge, and en/4.0.constituent-knowledge. I have rolled back my previous debian-specific patches, and added a new one that changes the commandline parser referws to dictionary files so that it's the same way that AbiWord does. Please test the packages which are now at http://lingcog.iit.edu/~bloom/link-grammar and tell me whether they work for you now. (After this works, I'll figure out how to create a setup that either has a default dictionary managed by the alternatives system, or uses $LANG to determine the default dictionary, or both.) --Ken Bloom -- I usually have a GPG digital signature included as an attachment.
