Wow, I can't believe this bug was ignored for almost a whole
year... :-/ During this time it looks like Filipe Manana's patch was
superseded by another patch, but I'm having trouble tracking the new
one down.  Based on that patch it looks like the bug is in src:linux
rather than btrfs-progs and should probably be reassigned...and
probably closed, because I'm guessing the fix is in Stretch's kernel.

Does the problem still occur with Stretch's linux-image
4.9.30-2+deb9u2 and btrfs-progs 4.7.3-1?
