My preference at this point would be amending the earlier patch as above to also lower the opmini.c optimization. I intend to upload 5.26.0-5 soonish with that workaround activated for hppa and sh4. Let's revisit the other options if that doesn't work out. (I understand the urgency related to the 5.26 transition is over now for you too, so it hopefully shouldn't impact your other work much if -5 doesn't build on hppa/sh4 after all.)
