Package: maxima Version: 5.9.2-2 Followup-For: Bug #340151 I have just rebuilt this package, making sure dh_strip is called with -Xmaxima, and now the segfault does not occur (except when using gdb, which is very puzzling).
Note that the dh_strip command, without -Xmaxima, generates the following output in the build logs for powerpc (and also on my system) (this is taken from http://buildd.debian.org/fetch.php?&pkg=maxima&ver=5.9.2-2&arch=powerpc&stamp=1131475489&file=log&as=raw): dh_strip -a BFD: debian/maxima/usr/lib/maxima/5.9.2/binary-gcl/stSylzTd: section .data lma 0x11038000 overlaps previous sections BFD: debian/maxima/usr/lib/maxima/5.9.2/binary-gcl/stSylzTd: section .sbss lma 0x11e25000 overlaps previous sections BFD: debian/maxima/usr/lib/maxima/5.9.2/binary-gcl/stSylzTd: section .data lma 0x11e25000 overlaps previous sections dh_compress -a whereas on, e.g., ia64, it just says (in http://buildd.debian.org/fetch.php?&pkg=maxima&ver=5.9.2-2&arch=ia64&stamp=1131474914&file=log&as=raw): dh_strip -a dh_compress -a Note that I have no idea what these error messages mean. When using dh_strip -a -Xmaxima, they do not occur. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: powerpc (ppc) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.15-1-powerpc Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages maxima depends on: ii gnuplot-nox 4.0.0-2.1 A command-line driven interactive ii libc6 2.3.5-13 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libgmp3c2 4.1.4-11 Multiprecision arithmetic library ii libncurses5 5.5-1 Shared libraries for terminal hand ii libreadline5 5.1-6 GNU readline and history libraries Versions of packages maxima recommends: ii gv 1:3.6.1-13 PostScript and PDF viewer for X ii maxima-share 5.9.2-2 A fairly complete computer algebra -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
