Awesome! :-) I also looked at debian/elpa-company.prerm.  It checks
for company-mode < 0.8.12-5 and executes a fix for upgrades.  Ubuntu
has 0.8.12-4 in their LTS release, so it looks like we need to keep it
until after their last sync late in the buster cycle.

Package is in git and also on mentors, in preparation for a formal
RFS in case that's your preference.
