Awesome! :-) I also looked at debian/elpa-company.prerm. It checks for company-mode < 0.8.12-5 and executes a fix for upgrades. Ubuntu has 0.8.12-4 in their LTS release, so it looks like we need to keep it until after their last sync late in the buster cycle.
