I beg to strongly disagree with Martin�: this bug should be fixed. The consequence of not fixing it is actually that noone cares about translating the templates for this package, which is quite widely used.
Of course, gdm uses the same templates than xdm and, indeed, the way such things are currently handled is not very appropriate (common templates should go in specific "templates-only" packages). But, having gettext'ed templates would cvertainly strongly improve the quality of gdm translation for templates. I hereby propose that the switch to po-debconf happens and to pick up PO files in the xdm package.
