It looks as if the problem is related to X itself or GNOME, as the same problem appears between gnome-terminal and xterm, or when closing xterm before pasting something in firefox. I intend to close the report on mozilla's bugzilla and to reassign this bug on the Gnome package in charge of the clipboard. Justin, can you please confirm my conclusions?
