It would have been best if you provided a patch against the current Debian sources. The BTS should not be used to provide *new* packages but patches to official packages. I appreciate your efforts but, just to let you know, there is ongoing work to make all mozilla-thunderbird locale packages generated from the same sources and that would probably make it work properly for the es_ES locale.
