Thanks for that hint. This implies that xdm (which shares the same
roots as wdm) has a (hopefully working) .service file. Will use that
as a pattern as I doubt that any of the bloaty DM (gdm, lightdm, etc.)
.services files will make a good example.
And indeed, the .service file from xdm looks very lean (no DBus, etc.):
[Unit]
Description=X-Window Display Manager
After=systemd-user-sessions.service
[Service]
ExecStart=BINDIR/xdm -nodaemon
[Install]
Alias=graphical.target.wants/xdm.service
(Yes, I'm aware that this is actually from a .service.in file.)
