Package: usbip Severity: wishlist Some tools (like Gnuk) offer USB device emulation, exported to the host for testing via usbip.
However, when using usbip in this way, any local user account with packet-sniffing privilege (e.g. members of group "wireshark" in a common debian convention) get access to the traffic over the USB port. It would be great to enable usbip-style device exposure over a SOCK_STREAM unix-domain socket as well as a TCP-based socket, since this would make it possible to provide emulated USB devices without routing traffic through the networking stack. --dkg
