as discussed in upstream issue #1614[1], a backport of rsyslog 8.30.0 to Debian Stretch would be awesome. You asked for a bugreport against the Debian rsyslog package in the upstrem issue, so here you are :) Rsyslog 8.30.0 has been released only yesterday. So probably you're going to do the packages for Unstable first. But if you could consider doing the backport afterwards, that'd be awesome.
